Nancy Jane Flodin Beaudway was born on April 30, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, and passed away on May 18, 2025. She lived a life shaped by curiosity, loyalty, beauty, laughter, and an unshakable sense of self.

Nancy attended Drake University and remained a lifelong learner, always eager to explore new ideas, books, and perspectives. She built a life rich in friendships and experiences, with homes she deeply loved in Winding Brook, Indiana, where she and Monte first lived together and were married in their home, followed by cherished years at Diamond Lake, Michigan, and later Seabrook Island, South Carolina. These places were more than settings; they were communities where Nancy formed deep, lasting connections through warmth, candor, and unmistakable charm.

For many, Nancy is forever linked with her beloved husband, Monte. For years they were simply “Monte and Nancy,” a pair who welcomed others, introduced friends to Seabrook Island, and made people feel at home. When Monte passed, Nancy’s life was profoundly altered. With reflection, courage, and determination, she chose to move forward on her own terms, forging a path that was fully hers.

Nancy possessed a keen wit and an easy, radiant laugh. She was quick to make others laugh and just as quick to laugh herself, often lighting up a room without trying. Her smile was unforgettable, her joy contagious. She had a wonderful habit of breaking into song at any moment, with or without a party, always carrying a tune and a lightness that made life feel celebratory.

She was strong-willed without apology, in spirit, in her professional life, and in her thoughtfully held opinions. Nancy enjoyed a successful career in sales, where she was deeply respected and genuinely loved by clients and coworkers alike for her integrity, sharp mind, and authentic warmth. Politically minded and intellectually engaged, she loved getting lost in a good book and welcomed deep conversations that made people feel seen and heard. Observant and sharp, she remembered everything, always ready with a story, a perfectly chosen gift, or a reason to celebrate a milestone.

Nancy was beautiful in every sense of the word. She had impeccable taste and an eye for fashion and style, wearing both effortlessly. Most importantly, she had a beautiful spirit. She was warm, humble, gracious, deeply loyal, and fully accepting of those she loved, welcoming many as family and holding them there with care.

Dogs held a special place in Nancy’s heart, as companions, confidants, and family. Over the years, she loved and was loved by Booker, Hannah, Otto, Ollie, and finally Augie, each one reflecting her generous spirit and capacity for joy. Augie, Nancy’s beloved Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen, remains a familiar presence on the Seabrook beach thanks to the generosity of Laura Reese, his adoptive dog mom.

Nancy was a gem. She was authentic, a steadfast friend, and a source of strength, laughter, and generosity. A true light, her warmth, wit, and open heart will be carried forward by all who loved her. She is deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
